Koala

Hunted for their fur, koala populations declined drastically between 1888 and 1927, leaving fewer than 300,000. Today, koalas face new threats: they are being hit by cars, attacked by dogs and suffering from diseases that have spread to most of the Earth's remaining population. Compounding the crisis, climate change is amplifying the frequency and intensity of forest fires, forcing the koala to abandon their forest home.

The Parques Reunidos Foundation collaborates financially with the Australian Koala Foundation ("AKF") in its multiple koala conservation projects in Australia.

The Australia Koala Foundation is the leading non-profit, non-government organization dedicated to the conservation and effective management of wild koala and their habitat.

There are more than 20,000 individuals and groups subscribing to the organization's magazine. Its website has registered close to 15 million visits each year.
