Madrid Zoo Aquarium, within its research project on the behavior and reproduction of the Giant Panda, is currently carrying out different behavioral and reproductive studies on this unique species listed as critical according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) list.
In addition, a document has been prepared, "Management and reproduction of the giant panda in the facilities of the Madrid Zoo Aquarium", which describes the breeding experience since the arrival of the pair of pandas in September 2007 until the birth of two offspring by artificial insemination in September 2010.
This project is part of the giant panda conservation and reproduction project, through which Madrid Zoo Aquarium is involved in an "Ex situ" conservation program of this species.
