Zoo Madrid's panda family starts a new stage in China. The couple formed by the female Hua Zui Ba and the male Bing Xing, together with their cubs Chulina and the twins You You and Jiu Jiu, will continue their adventure at the Chengdu base. All this, after the great success of the panda conservation and breeding programme in which we participate, and with which 6 cubs have been born in our park!

From 23 to 28 February, we will have special activities for the whole family to enjoy an authentic panda experience and continue learning all about this fascinating species.
We will have fun panda crafts, storytelling, panda face painting and fun games, designed for the little ones to have fun while they continue learning.
We will also have educational talks by one of our educators, in which they will explain the characteristics and curiosities about the species. In addition, you will be able to ask everything you have always wanted to know about this impressive animal, we are waiting for you!
SCHEDULES:
During these days, we will have the most special mural in Chulín square. On it you can write your best wishes to our panda family in the form of a dedication, poem, drawing, inspirational phrase... You'll also get a sweet little gift. All this so that the pandas can start their journey to China surrounded by all our love. Do you already know how you are going to say goodbye to them?

Following the return of the current panda family to China, Zoo Aquarium Madrid, in collaboration with the China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA), will continue its commitment to giant panda conservation with the return of a new pair in the coming months.
The panda conservation programme is of vital importance for the preservation of this species, efforts in coordination with breeding centres in China and zoological institutions around the world which, together with the work of protecting the protected areas where they live, has reduced their category of threat in the world, has made it possible to reduce its threat category in recent years, going from Endangered to Vulnerable status, from around 1100 specimens in the 1980s to 1900 in 2023, to which should be added 728 specimens from zoos and breeding centres around the world, including the 46 births that have taken place in 2023.
